Our Values
Australian & New Zealand lanolin
From the beginning, we have intentionally ensured that our lanolin is sourced from Australian and New Zealand sheep. By doing so, we not only support local farmers, but we also ensure that the sheep are handled under the strictest animal cruelty and low-pesticide guidelines.
Animal Cruelty-Free
Lanolips is accredited by The Leaping Bunny Programme & Cruelty-Free International. Lanolin is an animal cruelty-free ingredient. Sheep are shorn once a year for their health and well-being. Wool grows continuously, like human hair, and their wool can trap dirt and moisture, leading to overheating and skin issues like parasites, and the weight of it can hinder movement. Lanolin is removed during wool washing after shearing.
Lanolips do not test on animals, or commission others to test on our behalf, and we have no plans to do so in the future. We strongly believe that animal testing is not only unacceptable – but also it is not necessary. We will not knowingly purchase final products or raw materials (Including their component INCI) from suppliers that have conducted, commissioned or been party to animal testing after our fixed cut-off date 11th March 2013. We encourage suppliers to test for safety using non-animal testing methods and to fund the development of non-animal test methods.
Natural & Sustainable
Lanolin is a natural, renewable, and sustainable resource – it is a by-product of wool washing. If buried, wool, unlike synthetics, biodegrades in as little as three to four months. By choosing wool, and lanolin, you are choosing a truly environmentally-circular ingredient.
Clean & Transparent
Lanolips is a pioneer in clean beauty. We believe that nature provides us with the most powerful ingredients of all – and that a short ingredients list is a good ingredients list. Our products contain no known ‘suspicious’ chemicals, and we list all of our ingredients and natural percentages clearly, on each of our products.
Packaging
Our packaging is made from plastic, aluminium & cardboard. Our formula is rich and natural and requires a specific level of protection & barrier to ensure the products do not go off, or leach through the tubes. In our ongoing commitment to sustainability, some of the initiatives we have implemented include:
• The phase-out of gold tube caps, replaced by a more environmentally friendly plain cap.
• The phase-out of plastic blister shell cases and plastic blister pack shelf trays.
• All of our boxes are made from certified FSC material. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) promotes the responsible and sustainable management of the world's forests.
• Plant-based printing: the ink we use for printing our boxes are soybean and vegetable inks (plant-based inks) which makes our packaging easier to recycle and are more eco-friendly.
• Phase-out of cello coating on paper boxes, to make recycling possible. We now have water-based finish and reduced the use of foil on all packaging.
• Sugarcane and PCR materials are used for many tubes, with continued transition as testing allows.
